It’s one of those days that your mind seems to be racing at
a faster rate than can you think of. It seems to be in a different world if
not planet and although you may not pin point down to a specific thing, you at
least have several issues your mind is battling with. It hits you that you have
been lost in world of thoughts for an hour or so and no concrete outcome or
even solution has been drawn out of the many thoughts or so to speak. You
wonder why situations seems to overcome you when the bible says that you are
more than a conqueror. That is when your mind is drawn to a parable you read some time....a message hits the inbox of your mind.....Occupy till I come
Let me give a little background of the parable found in the
book of Luke 19:12-27. This is a very interesting parable that talks about a Noble man
who went to a far land to receive a kingdom. He called his ten
servants prior to the journey and gave them each a pound (It is said that this is equivalent to 100
days’ pay). He then told the servants to Occupy till he comes i.e to do business
with this until he returns. Two things crossed my mind, infact three:
- All the servants were given each a share. The master didn’t want to leave them idle and therefore he gave them some capital to do business. He empowered them, God has empowered us and expects us to use what he has given us for his glory and also improving our lives
- They were all given same amounts. This means that the master saw the ability in each of them. They were capable of doing something. Each one of us has some potential within. There is something we can do no matter how little
- Only servants were given. The bible mentions of existence of citizens but doesn’t bring any light of them receiving any pound…..only servants were trusted.Desire to always serve compared to being served, There is something for you.
His time of return reached and he paraded his servants to
give an account of how productive they had been. Came out than two had
actually been very profitable and brought ten and five pounds extra. They were
given ten and five cities to rule over. However we see one servant who went
and hid his pound and only takes it when his master is back. He has clearly been
unproductive and the master is not happy about it, he wonders why he did not even take it to a bank, that way he would have earned interest (honestly, this
is the least this servant would have done). His pound is taken away and given
to the servant who had gained ten more pounds…..what do I learn?
This represents our God, He has given us talents, gifts and
even time and has directed us to do business with them, make profit for him
until he comes.
God hates Laziness
and unfaithfulness
Make profit
God wants you to exercise all the gifts and talents that he
has given you. Do not sit over your potential: Let us engage… If today you were
to leave the company you work for, would you feel satisfied that you gave the
company your best or would you feel that there is something you would have done
either to make the company more profitable, improve the process or even prevent
any loss? Would your boss feel a sign of relief that "finally he/she has gone" or
he would feel the loss? What about your colleagues? Would you feel comfortable
that you have represented Christ in your capacity? You are a business person,
if today you were to account for all the deals you have closed, would your
heart be guilty free? Would you be found faithful? You are a leader in a church
or even in the corporate world, if today you were to give the account of your subjects: how
would the record look like? Would you be found to have taken advantage of them?
Wounded many? Would there be unity on the team or only wrangles and divisions? How
about having driven some away due to selfish desires?
You have been called
to rule
Child of God, Do you know that God has called you to reign? Yes,
God has called you to take charge; dominate. You are a governor by making and
either unknowingly or knowingly you are already rulling. The only question I
have for you is….for and in which Kingdom? Who’s your master? Are circumstances
reigning over you? Do you know that God has given you power to create your
world? You are a son God's Kingdom, a royal priest hood, a chosen generation…and
yes you belong to God, do not despise yourself, Walk in freedom, power and authority, represent Christ until he comes. Yes…..Occupy until he comes
There is a reward for the faithful.
Luke 19: 26 For I say unto you, That unto every one
which hath, shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall
be taken away from him.
Child of God, utilize what God has given you….You have great
brains- use them, Gifted in teaching? Teach the word and let all glory for back
to God, Gifted in prophesy? Release and expect no praise, you have a job? Do
not steal your employer’s time or even resources. Be faithful with the little and
God will trust you with much. You have a business? Do not exercise corruption?
Be person of integrity and your reward will be great.Do not wait untill God withdrwas what he has given you for you to realise that you have lost.....
Rightfully dominate in your world until the master comes, he will make you a king together with him.
Shalom
